Rough Out TM Roper

 

 This saddle is going to Jacob Rose in Montana.  Built on a Bill Bean tree.  TM Roper swells, 4" round cantle, 16" seat, 2 7/8" x 3" horn with lots of taper.  Fully rough out with a ring inskirt rigging and jailhouse stirrups made by Miller Custom Stirrups.

I just shipped this saddle off last week to Quin Larsen in Wyoming.  I wasn't sure about doing this saddle after he explained to me what he wanted done.  This is the first and most likely last saddle I will do where the seat and fork are covered with one piece of leather.  I'm glad I can say I've done one but it was a lot of work.  All the floral carving was done on rough out which was also a first for me but I like the way it turned out.  Thanks for the business Quin.

This saddle is built on a Bill Bean tree going to Jess Kirkpatrick in Montana.  Dean Oliver front end with a small post horn and inskirt rigging. 

 

Rough out wade

Here's a rough out wade that went to Jacob Rose in Montana.  I did a little bit of swivel knife work on the horn, cantle and a few other places to dress it up a little.  It's built on a Keith Gertsch tree.

Interesting story here.  This saddle went to Jason Ward in Montana.  He's worked for my dad on the Hairpin for quite a few years now and I've been friends with Jason since back in high school.  Anyways he showed up at the ranch with this team roping saddle that he had that was built less than stellar but said it fit horses really well and was trying to talk me into recovering the saddle.  We ended the conversation that afternoon by me telling him if he tore the saddle apart down to the tree I'd cover it for him.  When I got to the shop the next morning the tree was in the shop all ready to be covered.  So I don't know who made the tree or the dimensions but we put short motherhubbard skirts on it and called it good.

This saddle got delivered yesterday to Rhett Jacobs in Idaho.  Bill Bean tree.  Dean Oliver front, 2 7/8"X 3" horn, 16 1/2" seat, 4" cantle, 91.5* bars, and 5" visalia Kelly Nicholas stirrups.  Quarter breed floral with exposed stirrup leathers, inskirt rigging set just ahead of 7/8.

This saddle went to Eric Roberts of Montana.  He and his wife are great customers this being their second saddle they've ordered from me.  It seems I've been doing a lot these style of saddles lately...swell forks with small post horns.  This saddle is built on a Bill Bean tree.  Dean oliver front with a 3.25" by 3" horn, 16" seat, 3.5" cantle and 91.5* bars.  Inskirt rigging just ahead of 7/8 and Kelly Nicholas stirrups.

This saddle is going to Lisa Langley in Australia.  It's a quarter breed daisy stamp on a Bill Bean wade.  16" seat, 4" cantle, 4" wood post horn, flat plate rigging set just ahead of 7/8.  Thank you for the business Lisa and I hope your saddle doesn't take too long to get down there.

This saddle went to Sam Woods in Sheridan, MT.  It's all rough out with a nice set of John Miller jailhouse stirrups on it that really look nice.  The saddle is built on a Bill Bean tree.  It has a Dean Oliver front end, 16" seat, 3" post horn, 4" round cantle, and mother hubbard style skirts.

This saddle I just finished up for Luke Wiggins here in Dillon, MT.  The tree was made by Bill Bean out of Eagle, ID and the stirrups are made by Kelly Nicholas in Corinne, UT.  It's a half breed floral with exposed stirrup leathers and swivel knife cuts on the cantle and horn.  It has 13" Lou Ellen swells with a 3.5" oval cantle, 16" seat, and a flat plate rigging.  You can see the saddle shop in the background of a couple of the pictures.  I'm in Montana for the summer.  Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Full floral wade

This saddle is going to a good friend, Kade Martin, in Wyoming.  This is my first fully tooled saddle.  Want to say thanks to both Cary Schwarz and Bob Park for putting out such great products to help those of us that aren't as artistically gifted.  This saddle is built on a Keith Gertsch tree.  Dimensions: 16 1/2" seat, 6 3/8" x 5 5/8" horn, 91.5* bars, 5" shovel cantle.  This turned out to be about all I could handle while attending vet school. I finished it just in time for finals and I know my wife is happy it's done cause now she gets her husband back in the evenings and on the weekends.
